Following the survey of 500 randomly selected households within the Wimborne Parish, conducted by the Town Council, which produced a result of 53% of respondents against the Waitrose development whilst 44% were in favour of it, the Community Magazine decided to hold its own survey to give a voice, declared the Magazine, to those who live outside of the Parish. People were invited to respond online or by means of a postcard; the results, announced on 2 March, were as follows:

Online votes - 3,076 were 'against' the development whilst 1552 were in favour of it.
Of the postcards - 199 were 'against' and 151 'for'.

This gives a combined result of 4978 votes cast with 66% 'against' and 34% of respondents in favour. Taken together, these surveys give, we suggest, a clear indication of the view of the people of, and around, Wimborne. KWTG has no doubts about the strength of its support.
