There have recently been minor road works with single lane traffic controlled by traffic lights at the junction of Rowlands Hill and Park Lane. These pictures show the resultant congestion around midday on Tuesday 13 February. The Waitrose plan proposes a roundabout at this junction in order to give access to its supermarket. Whilst a roundabout would not create the same obstruction as traffic lights it would interrupt the flow of traffic on busy Rowlands Hill which, combined with the additional traffic of up to 2000 cars each day, 7 days a week, would, we suggest, frequently create traffic conditions just like these in the photographs. Traffic congestion throughout the centre of Wimborne, which is already a problem, would be made much worse by a major supermarket on the Cricket Ground site.
